PATHI BHARA MATA AND HER STORY.....MUST WATCH

Pathibhara Devi  or Mukkumlung is one of the most significant Hindu temples of Goddess Pathibhara in Nepal, located on the hill of Taplejung. It is also considered as one of the holy places for Kirats. Worshippers from different part of Nepal and India flock the temple during special occasions, as it is believed that a pilgrimage to the temple ensures fulfillment of the pilgrims' desires.

The temple is Located 19.4 km east of Phungling municipality at the elevation of 3,794 m (12,444.32 ft). It serves as a secondary route of Kanchenjunga trek. The list of devotees includes the ex-Royal family of Nepal. The pilgrims offer animal sacrifices, gold and silver to please the goddess. After the Gorkha(Khas) invasion of Limbuwan the holy temple of Kirat(Manghim in Limbu language) was also included into the mainstream Hinduism and is also worshiped as one of the Hindu Shaktipeeths without changing the earlier belief or the practices of the Kirats.

The Goddess at Pathibhara temple is believed to possess supernatural powers and diligently answer devotees' prayers. She is considered by her devotees as a manifestation of the divine feminine also determined with other names as AdiKali, Maha Maya, Maha Rudri among many other of her divine forms.

HISTORY says:

Located above 19.4 km east of Phungling, the Goddess Mukkumlung at Pathibhara is said to have miraculous powers and is said to have answered her devotees' prayers. Story regarding the foundation of the temple has been passed to one generation to another generation. The story says that when shepherds once led their sheep to the place where the temple lies today, hundreds of sheep disappeared as they were grazing. The distressed shepherds then had a dream in which the Goddess told where she
resided and instructed them to carry out ritualistic sacrifices of sheep. When the sacrifice was offered on the spot where the sheep where lost, the lost sheep were said to have returned. And hence, the ritual of offering sacrifice started. The myth is that sheppards suddenly lost a lot of sheep in this area and that Pathibara appeared in their dreams. She promised that the sheep would return if they would offer a few sheep to her. And so they did.
