Caregivers, Nannies, babysitters and Care Takers

Live-in-Cargiver Program is designed for people who have work experience and qualified to provide care for children, elderly persons or persons with disabilities in in their private homes. Caregivers must live in the private home where they work in Canada. 
Caregivers and other foreign workers have the same legal rights to fair working conditions under labour laws, as well as a Canadian citizens.

Terms of employment: Full-time, live-in-work 

Education: High school 

Experience: At least one year (including six months with one employer) or 6 months’ care training

Average Salary: 11$ per hour

Language level: Basic/Medium (depending what are the employer’s requirements).



What Are the Specific Requirements?
Like any other career in health care, there are set requirements that you must be aware of if you intend to have a career in this industry. To start, most caregivers receive about $10.25 Canadian per hour and work for 40 hours per week.
Requirements to work in this industry include:
Between age 22 and 49.
Completion of secondary education equal to that in Canada
Either six months of training or one year of experience as a caregiver or related occupation. For the one year of employment, at least six months must be with the same employer and all of this experience must be within the last three years.
Speaks either fluent English or French.

Vacation time with pay.
Paid public holidays.
Overtime pay.
Minimum wage.
Should you meet these requirements, the process to become a live-in caregiver in Canada can take up to one year to do so. For those who enjoy their time in Canada as caregivers, they can apply for a work permit without having to leave and can even look at options for Permanent Residence. 
To apply for permanent residence, you must either have 24 months of full-time, authorized employment or 3,900 hours of full time employment. All of this experience must be acquired within four years of moving to Canada for this application to work out in your favor.
